It is that time of year again! Take Me to the River, the festival of festivals celebrating art in the St. Croix Valley, kicks off on September 9 with Art on the Kinni in River Falls.
Art on the Kinni, now in its 21st year, is organized by the River Falls Community Arts Base and features artists demonstrations and work for sale from 75 juried artists from a variety of media including textiles, photography, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, painting and sculpture. The Budding Artists Bridge allows emerging artists to display (and sell) their work on a scale smaller than a booth. Live music on two stages, kids activities and local food vendors round out the festive atmosphere.
Options for lunch in River Falls abound or head over to Hudson for a bite at one of the many restaurants downtown.
After lunch, be sure to stop in at Season on St. Croix Gallery to see the eclectic mix of paintings, pottery, textiles, glass and more for sale. Owner Ruth Misenko believes visiting Seasons should be a wonderful art experiences and proudly represents more than 150 artists from around the country. Take the opportunity to visit the artist studios housed at the gallery: Christensen/Reiling Clay Studio and Heartfelt Silks.
Calling it a day a little earlier? Be sure to stop by the galleries at ArtReach St. Croix to see “e-qui-nox, a gallery exhibition featuring fiber sculptures by Barbara Riegel Bend, monoprints by Beth Dorsey and hand-knit vestments by Michaela Mahady.
