Are you in market to buy art? The first weekend of Take Me to the River would be a perfect time to find just the pieces you may be looking for.
Start your morning at Art on the Kinni in River Falls. With 75 juried artists along the shady banks of the Kinnickinnic River, this is a art fair that appeals to the serious art buyer. Meet the artists, talk about their process and inspirations and make a connection that will make your purchase even more meaningful.
Stop two on your art buying expedition should be Seasons on St. Croix Gallery in downtown Hudson. Seasons is one of the premiere art galleries in the St. Croix Valley with work by local, regional and national artists. Whether you are looking for paintings, glass, pottery or textiles, owner Ruth Misenko has selected some of the best for her gallery. Be sure to visit the artists’ studios housed in the gallery: Christensen/Reiling Clay Studio and Heartfelt Silks.
The galleries at ArtReach St. Croix are filled with amazing textiles, sculptures and monoprints for the “e-qui-nox” exhibition. You want to see the intricate fiber sculpture created by Barbara Riegel Bend, the hand-knit vestments by Michaela Mahady and the layered contemporary monoprints by Beth Dorsey.
By no means does this mean you can not do serious art buying during the other weekends of Take Me to the River, we just really liked this grouping. In fact, we think you should consider three weekends of serious art buying!
